Maidstone Max Adventure Playground
Maidstone Max Adventure Playground is a spectacular, community-focused destination that transcends the ordinary. Following a major refurbishment, it offers a timeless, fantasy-inspired play experience packed with modern equipment and a profound commitment to accessibility, all within a vast parkland offering activities for the entire family.
A fantasy-inspired play world – The playground is designed around a classic, imaginative theme that encourages unstructured, creative adventure. The centrepiece is a magnificent timber castle fort with ramp access to its upper levels, allowing children of all mobility levels to explore its towers and bridges. This timeless design is complemented by an expansive range of sensory panels, inground trampolines, and a variety of swings to suit different ages and abilities.
Unwavering commitment to accessibility – The playground ensures everyone can play side-by-side. Virtually the entire surface is wheelchair-friendly, consisting of soft rubber matting and smooth concrete paths that seamlessly connect all the different areas and activities, from the castle to the swings and sensory stations.
A hub for diverse activities – Beyond the main playground, the park is a premier recreation hub. It features a state-of-the-art skate park, a bike and scooter pump track, and a half basketball court. For more advanced riders, a dedicated 1.1km downhill mountain bike track (accessible from Seymour Grove) offers a thrilling challenge with berms and jumps for intermediate to expert levels.
Set within expansive natural parkland – The adventure continues onto bush walking trails through regenerating native forest and to the Brett Latimer Lookout, which offers scenic views over the Hutt Valley. The park is also home to sports fields and nestled Pétanque courts.
A cherished and complete community asset – Open 24/7 and free to use, Maidstone Max is celebrated for its scale, variety, and deeply inclusive design. It successfully functions as a self-contained destination where families can spend an entire day playing, picnicking, skating, biking, and exploring.
